A Little Time for Myself

Griffith Observatory. Best view in LA!

Griffith Observatory. Best view in LA!

Well it’s been a while but I’m back in one of my favorite places to relax and recharge; The Griffith Observatory. In my opinion it’s the best spot in LA to sit back and relax. It’s amazing how quiet the city seems like up here and you simple can’t be the view (even though today is a bit hazy). Seeing the city from up hear gives me a totally different perspective on the city I live in and reminds me just how big LA is.

Taking a day off seems like such a simple and obvious task. I mean it’s something we all need to do, right? A little time to relax and recharge your battery, to get refocussed. Even though I know this is a good thing for some reason I find myself taking less and less time for myself nowadays. Heck, the freeway exit to both my studio and MI are the same exits to go to the Observatory yet I hardly ever take a left turn (to the observatory) instead of a right (to go to work).

Now I’m going to admit that I love what I do (most of it anyway) so it doesn’t always feel like work. When it does feel like work it’s still pretty cool because it’s what I want to do. Although that makes it a bit easier I still need to take some time for myself every once in a while. I think we all NEED to take some time to ourselves once in a while.

Besides that fact that it’s good to relax and recharge taking a day to myself also gives me some perspective on my life, a chance to have some distance from what I’m doing and the ability to be more focussed when I return. The best part is it doesn’t actually take that much time and you don’t have to go anywhere far away. Just find a spot you can go to that temporarily removes you from your everyday work environment (also a vacation would be nice!).

It’s important to go somewhere you don’t go everyday! To feel like you’re taking some time off you need to go somewhere you don’t go everyday. Trust me, it works!

It seems like we have to work more and more nowadays to make ends meet. That’s why it’s even more important to take some time to yourself. I’ve only been up here at the Griffith Observatory for a couple of hours and I already feel re-charged. Now I can grab a coffee and hit the studio feeling fresh and ready to work.

Take some time off! Not only will you feel better but the work you have to do will be better too!

Cheers!,
Charlie
