BIG Fireworks and a little Sorry! Too

Firework Spectacular!

Firework Spectacular!

Well I finally took a day off…the entire day! Doesn’t happen very often. Only once every few months or so. But I figured if there was a day to take off the fourth of July was it. Actually if it wasn’t for Tim & Tita I probably would have worked but they baited me with a steak and I just couldn’t say no.

I knew it would be a fun day with all the grilling (did I mention the steak) and some good ‘ol fashioned fireworks but it was the unexpected that truly made the day. Board games! To be specific, “Sorry!”. I can honestly say it’s the most fun I have had in a long, long time. What originally started out as a game or two turned into several hours of insane fun! Bumping each other off the board, gloating, laughing, crying (not really) and a few curse words (mainly me) made for an afternoon that took me back to when I was a kid.

It was neat really, for a few hours there were no distractions. No cell phones (expect for my 1 post to facebook :o), no computers, no distractions. Just pure enjoyment of the moment. We actually got so involved with the game we considered skipping the fireworks to continue playing. It didn’t even matter who one (I ended up victorious!) we were just having fun. It’s something that doesn’t happen often enough anymore. It seems that life has gotten so hectic and the need for distractions at every turn so great (TV’s on while a live band is playing, really…) that we forget to slow down every once in a while and take a look around. Maybe even sit with some friends and play a board game. I highly recommend it.

I’m also glad we decided to see the fireworks. South Pasadena put on a hell of a show! Here is a short clip from the big finale. This goes out to my nieces since it rained and they didn’t get to shoot any fireworks!
