DRUM! Magazine: The Groove Issue
For the past couple of years I’ve worked with DRUM! Magazine on their “How To Play Drums” magazine as well as lessons and play-alongs for the DRUM! Magazine website. So when Andy Doerschuk called me to put together a roundtable with some of my fellow Musicians Institute teachers to have a discussion on one of the most fiercely debated topics, Groove, I jumped at the chance.
I was honored to be joined by my friend and mentor Tim Pedersen, the freakishly awesome Bernie Galane and bass great Ernest Tibbs. We had an absolute blast and I think there is some very good information in the article.
The Groove Issue is out now and you can find the LA Groove Roundtable feature on page 33.

Thanks Mark! Love the sound clips. Indio and Over Penn are my two favorite songs on that record. Followed closely by Onion Girl.

Hi there, I don’t go along with everything in this write-up, but you do make some very good points. I’m very intrigued in this matter and I myself do alot of research as well. Either way it was a well thoughtout and nice read so I figured I would leave you a comment.
