In Search of the Ultimate Drum Tones!

Charlie after Sanding

Charlie after Sanding

About 10 days ago I ripped my entire studio apart. Completely apart. Why? Because it was time for some upgrades.

First off I’m extremely affected by my environment. I work much better when I’m comfortable with my surroundings. I don’t like a lot of clutter. Even if it’s not in the way, I don’t like it. It bothers me. Same goes for the look of the room. So from an aesthetics point of view it was time for a make over.

But thats not the big reason I went postal on my studio…

The ultimate drum tones! That’s my main reason for the rebuild. It was time to tune the room and the only way I could do that was to strip it bare and build it back up. So that’s what I did. My studio is in a building that use to be RCA Recording & Post Production facilities so I can’t actually tear it completely down.

It’s not a clean job that’s for sure but it sure will be satisfying once it’s done. Here are a few pics of one of the walls. I’ll have some more up in the next couple of weeks as I complete each step.
