One Era Ends, Another Begins…

JKB had gone the way of the dodo but the Royal Jelly show was in full swing. We went from playing every Wednesday to every Wednesday and Saturday. Plus we played on Jimmy Kimmel Live. That was an blast and probably one of the coolest Royal Jelly shows we did. At the club we had 5 girls dancing at each show but when we played on Kimmel we had 9 and I was in the middle of the stage instead of the back! Yee haw! Exactly where the drummer should be! One of my favorite highlights was getting to meet Tommy Lee. I don’t get star struck but I started playing drums because of Tommy Lee so getting to meet him was pretty damn cool.

I knew the Royal Jelly show would last forever (We performed it for about a year and a half) but when it finally came to an end it was a bit of a surprise for everyone. The show is still happening in Las Vegas but it’s a different band.

Studio Drums

I wasn’t sitting around doing nothing else though. EGH recorded a Live Album and Live Video, I started a production company with my EGH cohort Ernesto Homeyer and I put together my own studio. After doing a lot of traveling I really wanted to get some steady work in town and running a studio was always something I wanted to do. It has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made. Besides recording my own music I have had the opportunity to work, and record for, many talented artists and composers. I have also had the opportunity to play on many TV shows and commercials. The work was as varied as the day is long and that made it a lot of fun. Never a dull moment!

The studio has been my main focus ever since and I love it! We have been busy with my production company Abrasive Productions and I have played on many projects in the last few years. Having my own studio always set up to record is awesome! There is a brand new EGH studio album in the works as well as a brand new band (we are in the mixing stages now!).

I have also recently released a brand new play-along and lesson series called iGroove. Each lesson includes 25 play-along tracks and a full lesson pdf. The iGroove series is something I will be working very hard on in 2009.

The “Musical Headspace” blog entries are by no means a full recount of the past 25 years. It’s more like a highlight real of a few of my favorite moments (though not all of my favorite moments). I hope you have enjoyed reading as much as I have enjoyed writing.

Be safe and have a ROCKIN’ 2009!
