The Sweet Sound of Drums!

Well it’s been a fairly hectic few weeks at the studio. After getting back from the road with Adrian there was about a days rest and then it was all systems go at the studio.

Besides finishing the last of the tracks for a new band I have been working on a lot of new educational material. It has been quite a bit more work than I originally thought but what isn’t a lot of work? Truth be told it has become sort of a full time job. Not that I’m complaining because it has been a lot of fun and it’s turning out great. I still have a few tracks to finish up and then a good amount of video to shoot but I’m hoping to have it wrapped up in the next 6-8 weeks. I’ll give you a lot more details once we’re close to launching here at the site.

Ernesto and I have also started working on a new album with singer extroidinare Tita Hutchison. We have worked with Tita a lot over the past several years but it has all been one off tunes or maybe a pair of songs not a full record. I’m excited to work with Tita on a full record, start to finish.

The writing process is quite different than we have become accustom too. These songs will take shape over several writing sessions as apposed finishing ideas off in one sitting. It has been a while since I’ve written like this and, to be honest, it’s quite refreshing. We are really going to give ourselves the freedom to explore any and all ideas that we have for each song. It will be sort of like building a house, it will take a while.

It’s nice not to be rushed though. Everything seems to be Now, Now, Now these days and to have the time to create something in a relaxed and open environment is a welcome change.

Over the this past weekend we have some floodage at the studio. A pipe broke in the ceiling and flooded the hallway and my studio. I was lucking that none of the gear was damaged but it was a close call on Sunday morning. Another 2 inches and the power strips for the console and computer would have been swimming. So after a couple of days of being down and 5 hours of playing janitor yesterday all is clean and back to normal. Just in time for another session!

This weekend also marks the beginning of the mixing process for the rock band. No name to announce yet but keep your eyes peeled on the blog because we’ll be announcing it soon along with audio and video. This stuff ROCKS! If you a fan of rock music your going to really dig this record. I’m just stoked we are finally mixing because I can’t wait to get out and play this stuff live!

Anyway it’s been over a week since I’ve posted so I wanted to give you all an update. It’s been a great summer and it’s not over yet!
